Need Some Help With WordPress

So I am wanting to transfer this blog to WordPress as blogger seems to have a lot of quirkiness to it with comments and gmail is also becoming challenging to work with because of their stricter security controls. I have the new site almost ready to go but I am struggling with menus. I've created a menu for the profile pages and by default the menu shows up on the left side of the page. The problem I am running into is that when you click on the profile menu to display the profile pages, the names of the profile pages go off the left side of the web page so you can not read them.  I have racked my brain over and over again trying to figure out how to move the menu but I can not figure out how to do it. Anyone know what to do?

  1. Hey. Can you make a screen record to show the exact problem? A good way to do this a tool called loom.com.

  2. Would rather stay on Blogger so I can post anonymously.

    1. I vote you continue allowing "Anonymous" posting (not available on WordPress)!

  3. You might be able to go to appearances page and add a widget to the right column and then include the menu widget in that location.

  4. WordPress is much more complicated than I expected. Think I will scrap it and just stick with Blogger. Ugh!

  5. Dear Mz Kaylee
That seems to be a bit of a defeatist attitude, if you don’t mind me saying. Your FLR didn’t get to this stage by stopping when things got tough.
Is this not a task you can set for Thomas?

  6. You/he could reach out to Emma at evolving your man.com. She transferred from blogger to Wordpress

  7. Thanks for the suggestion FLR Follower. They are good ideas. Emma's site is really nice. I just don't have the time to focus on learning it right now. I was hoping it would be a simple switch. A simple blog is easy to set-up on Word Press but when you start to add in menus and multiple pages it is not very intuitive and seems like they lock you into specific formats unless you want to pay more money. Currently Thomas does not have access to my blog and I'd like to keep it that way. I may still switch to in the future when I am not so busy with other things in my life. For now, I will stick with Blogger.

  8. Hi Mz Kaylee. Sounds like you are having an issue with the theme. What theme are you using as this will determine the fix? Also is this a self hosted option or on Wordpress.Com ? Once that is cracked you will find it should be pretty straightforward there on in and a lot more powerful than blogger. You can post anonymously if Wordpress so don’t worry about the previous comments. I’m happy to help and sort it out for you if you need any further support.

    1. Thank you. Can you recommend a theme that allows multiple menus and is good for having different pages? Basically I want to have a similar look as this site. I am fine with having drop down menus instead of static menus on the side. I've looked through the available themes but could not find any that would work.

    2. Let me check your theme on desktop and I will revert with some suggestions. Are you hosting on Wordpress.com or planning to install and host yourself? (As this may influence things).

    3. Hi Mz Kaylee, having a quick look on Wordpress.com there are a bunch of themes which you can use. For example https://wordpress.com/theme/franklin have a look at this search with the filters https://wordpress.com/themes/free/filter/classic-menu+multiple-menus?s=blog Do let me know if you need a hand with setup as I am more than willing to help support such a great site. Philip.

  9. Hi there... Just saw this. Why don't you self host your blog. It uses the WP software but it is much better and easier to use when you are not on WP dot Com. You can get adult friendly hosting for as little as $5 a month and your other cost would be buying your domain name which costs about $13. a year. There is a bit of a learning curve but then you are in total control and no one can just delete your content because it is 'adult'. If you want any help or other tips feel free to shoot me an email
